‘Oh Hi Hello’ seeks to both romanticize and trivialize companionship and introversion. Lines like ‘maybe I need a companion, or at least a couple plants in here’ and ‘I should get a dog’ attempt to portray partnership as a cure for introverted anxiety, but also as something comparable to the feelings of watering a plant or walking a dog. The album is about wanting, but simultaneously worrying that wanting something is more fun than actually having it.
